Heat pump grants in Ireland
SEAI provides support for eligible heat pump systems under its domestic energy grants. The rules and amounts can change, so use the official SEAI page as the final source before applying.
How much is available?
SEAI currently lists a maximum heat-pump-system grant of up to €12,500, depending on dwelling type and eligibility. Air-to-air systems have a different maximum. The grant bundle can include support for the heat pump, eligible central-heating upgrades and a renewable heat bonus in qualifying circumstances.
What about older homes?
SEAI says homes built before 2007 may require a technical assessment unless a valid BER demonstrates the required heat-loss performance. Homes built from 2007 onwards generally do not require a technical assessment before applying for the individual heat-pump grant, although the home still needs to meet the applicable requirements.
Basic application process
- Choose an SEAI-registered contractor.
- Apply for the grant before starting the works.
- Receive the grant offer.
- Have the work completed within the applicable timeframe.
- Complete the required post-works BER and submit the required documents.
